Data Platform Engineer

Our client, a mid-sized Hedge Fund, is growing their Data Platform team and hiring a Data Platform Engineer to assist in building and maintaining the core database technologies and automation frameworks that power the firms strategies. You will design resilient, secure, and ultra low latency systems. You will also play a key role in shaping the firm's next-generation data platform.

Skills:

• 3+ years of professional experience within the financial sector (working in equity, credit or derivatives trading environments)
• Engineering experience in enterprise database technologies, with strong SQL skills
• Development experience across multiple languages (such as PowerShell and Python) for solving complex problems and building automation
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Database performance tuning and optimization experience
• Database design and modelling fundamentals
• Version control and CI/CD experience
• Experience with open-source monitoring tools such as Prometheus or Grafana for performance and health checks
• Experience with Apache Iceberg on object storage
• Exposure to multiple database platforms such as PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redshift, MongoDB, etc.
• Exposure to Kafka
• Exposure to Kubernetes
