Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Data Platform Engineer I to support our Azure Databricks environment and broader enterprise data platform. This role will assist with platform monitoring, feature testing and deployment, dashboard development, troubleshooting, documentation, and user support across Azure Databricks, DevOps, HVR/Fivetran, Snowflake, Collibra, Power BI, and Tableau ecosystems.
The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP; working knowledge of SQL, data analytics, and visualization tools; and an interest in developing skills in platform operations, security, monitoring, automation, and modern cloud technologies. Experience with Azure Databricks, Power BI, Python, APIs, CI/CD, containers, or infrastructure as code is beneficial.
Working under the guidance of senior team members, this role will contribute to secure, reliable, and scalable data platform operations while building practical experience across data engineering, analytics, governance, observability, and automation.
Work Arrangement
+ This a HYBRID office based position working in our Ellis Preserve office located in Newtown Square, PA. Core office days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Responsibilities
+ Monitor and assess new and existing Azure Databricks features, capabilities, and platform updates for business value, operational readiness, security, and compatibility
+ Plan, test, deploy, and support approved Azure Databricks features and platform enhancements in coordination with engineering, security, governance, and operations teams
+ Develop training materials and provide education, demonstrations, and ongoing guidance to business users on Azure Databricks capabilities and approved usage practices
+ Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain platform observability dashboards that provide actionable insights into performance, availability, utilization, reliability, and operational health
+ Design, build, test, deploy, and support Power BI dashboards and reports that address business analysis, reporting, and decision-support needs
+ Partner with business stakeholders to understand problems, translate requirements into data and reporting solutions, and create clear, effective visualizations
+ Develop, optimize, and validate SQL queries used for data analysis, dashboard development, data quality checks, and operational reporting
+ Troubleshoot platform, data, and dashboard issues; perform root-cause analysis; and coordinate resolution or escalation as appropriate
+ Explore GenAI-based automation opportunities and assist with the design, testing, and deployment of platform automation that improves efficiency, reliability, and user experience
+ Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, support procedures, dashboard specifications, and standard operating procedures
+ Ensure solutions comply with applicable security, privacy, data governance, change management, and platform standards
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
+ At least three to four (3 – 4)+ years of relevant experience in data platforms, analytics engineering, business intelligence, platform operations, or a related area
+ Hands-on experience with
+ Azure Databricks, including evaluating platform capabilities, supporting feature deployment, monitoring platform operations, and troubleshooting technical issues
+ Strong SQL skills, with experience writing, optimizing, and validating complex queries for analytics, reporting, and data quality use cases
+ Experience designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting Power BI dashboards and reports
+ Experience creating platform observability or operational dashboards using performance, availability, utilization, cost, reliability, or service-health metrics
+ Ability to understand business problems, gather and clarify requirements, analyze data, and translate findings into intuitive visualizations and actionable insights
+ Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and train or educate business users through demonstrations, documentation, and hands-on guidance
+ Working knowledge of data security, access controls, governance, change management, testing, and production support practices
+ Experience with Python scripting, APIs, workflow orchestration, CI/CD, or other automation techniques is preferred
+ Curiosity and willingness to learn GenAI-based automation approaches and apply them responsibly to platform operations, analytics, and user enablemen
+ Relevant Microsoft Azure, Azure Databricks, Power BI, or data engineering certifications are preferred
