About the role

As Data Operations Lead, you'll be the bridge across three teams: markets, where transactions happen and new data originates; engineering, building the systems that capture and refine it; and sales, who get our data into customers' hands. You'll own data integrity, coverage, and QA - running analysis, fielding client data requests, and guaranteeing the dataset's reliability end to end.

Our data is our moat. Caplight has over $300B of proprietary secondary-market data and $4T of private funding-round data, spanning more than 60,000 companies and 40,000 investors. Investors rely on that data to make multi-million-dollar decisions, and our partners build entirely new financial products on top of it, from the first unicorn indexes to on-chain private markets.

Getting that data right is one of the most mission-critical jobs at the company, and we're looking for a highly reliable leader to own it.

What you will do

• Own data quality end to end. Be the single accountable owner for the accuracy and completeness of Caplight's data, including funding rounds, corporate actions, investor data, and secondaries.
• Design the data pipes. Define the standards, metrics, and SLAs for data quality, and build QC workflows that catch errors and let the team hold the bar without you reviewing every record.
• Build with engineering. Partner with engineers on ingestion, validation, and review workflows, and decide where human expertise should override automation.
• Win customers. Work with Design to surface data clearly and with Sales to turn data quality into a competitive advantage customers can feel.

What you will bring

• 3+ years in product or data operations, with a track record of owning outcomes end to end.
• Fluency in private-markets data. You understand how funding rounds, cap tables, and investor data work, whether from a fund, operator, or fintech background. Experience at a venture data provider like PitchBook, Aumni, or CB Insights is a plus.
• Systems-minded builder. You think in workflows, build alongside engineers, and leverage AI and agentic tools to scale operations.
• Based in San Francisco. This is an in-person role working day to day with markets, engineering, and sales.
• Mission-driven. You're excited to build the infrastructure for a fast-growing financial market that powers the innovation economy.
