Position Summary
The Application Vulnerability Remediation Consultant will support enterprise vulnerability remediation efforts across hybrid OT/IT environments. This role focuses on analyzing vulnerability findings, determining appropriate remediation strategies, coordinating with infrastructure, application, security, and third-party vendors, and driving remediation activities from assessment through implementation planning.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze vulnerability findings and determine appropriate remediation strategies based on technical dependencies and operational impact.
  • Categorize vulnerabilities by remediation type, technology, ownership, and implementation approach.
  • Identify remediation actions including software updates, patches, package upgrades, Java updates, certificate replacement, TLS/cipher configuration, database driver updates, and vendor-provided fixes.
  • Partner with infrastructure teams to validate hosting environments, operating system versions, virtual machine ownership, and patch feasibility.
  • Work with application owners to understand application dependencies, testing requirements, and release constraints.
  • Develop technical remediation requirements for third-party vendors and coordinate remediation efforts through completion.
  • Document remediation decisions, technical requirements, and implementation guidance for future reuse.
  • Recommend process improvements and preventive controls based on recurring vulnerability trends.
  • Support risk-based prioritization while balancing security requirements with operational stability.
  • Provide regular status updates, issue tracking, and escalation support to project leadership.
Requirement:
  • Experience supporting OT/IT integration environments or hybrid operational technology and enterprise IT systems. Experience analyzing application vulnerabilities and developing remediation plans for hosted application environments.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux application hosting environments. Experience supporting virtual machine-hosted enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of patch management, package management, software lifecycle management, and dependency remediation.
  • Experience with TLS/SSL, certificates, cipher suites, and secure communication configuration. Experience with Java, OpenJDK, Apache, Log4j, OpenSSL, or similar enterprise middleware technologies.
  • Understanding of Microsoft security updates, SQL Server components, database drivers, and application dependencies.
  • Ability to interpret vulnerability scan results and translate findings into actionable remediation plans.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors on application remediation efforts.
  • Strong technical documentation and cross-functional coordination skills.
