    Title:

    Data Engineer, JR

    KBR is seeking a Data Engineer to support one of our government customers in Reston, Virginia. The Data Engineer utilizes a diverse range of data-focused skills, experience, deep technical and analytical problem solving, and team-centered solutioning for complex problems to satisfy priority information enabling operations. This position requires strong attributes for problem solving, data analysis, troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and experimentation, often under time sensitive decisions.

    Data Engineer, Jr Key Requirements

    • The Junior Data Engineer provides Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to our government customer.
    • Support the collection, integration, validation, maintenance, and analysis of mission-relevant data used to inform space and counterspace intelligence operations.
    • Develop and maintains data workflows, automation solutions, and reporting products that enable efficient management of large and diverse datasets.
    • The data Engineer works with government personnel, mission partners, and technical teams to ensure data quality, accessibility, and operational effectiveness.
    • Contribute to mission planning, collection management, and data-driven analysis in support of national security objectives.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Support the collection, processing, validation, and maintenance of large datasets used in space and counterspace mission activities.
    • Develop and maintain automated workflows, scripts, and processes to collect, transform, integrate, and manage data from multiple sources.
    • Analyze RF, signals, collection, and other technical data to identify patterns, trends, and mission-relevant insights.
    • Assist in integrating disparate datasets and establishing data quality standards, governance practices, and data management procedures.
    • Testing and validation of dashboards, reports, visualizations, and other data products that support operational analysis and decision-making.
    • Support collection management activities by tracking requirements, monitoring tasking, and aligning data efforts with mission priorities.
    • Maintain databases, data repositories, and associated documentation to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and compliance with program requirements.
    • Provide technical support for mission planning, operational reporting, and readiness assessment activities.
    • Collaborate with government stakeholders and mission partners to support data-driven initiatives and operational objectives.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
    • 0 to 5 years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, intelligence operations, collection management, RF analysis, or a related technical field.
    • Experience managing, validating, maintaining, or analyzing large datasets in operational, intelligence, or mission-focused environments.
    • Experience with data analysis, scripting, and database technologies, including Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent tools.
    • Active Top-Secret/SCI clearance with Poly

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or other government operational missions.
    • Knowledge of RF collection systems, signals analysis methodologies, collection management processes, or mission planning activities.

    Basic Compensation:

    95,200 - $119,000

    This range is for the Virginia area only.

    The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

    Additional Compensation:

    KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance
