Data Engineer –Palantir Foundry, Spark, Snowflake, Power BI
Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid) or remote
Position Summary
Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable data solutions that enable data-driven decision making across electric, gas, wildfire mitigation, asset management, operations, and grid modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, Spark/PySpark, Snowflake, and Power BI, and will be responsible for building enterprise-grade data pipelines, data models, and analytical solutions that support critical business operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Palantir Foundry and Spark/PySpark.
  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and curate data from enterprise systems, IoT devices, GIS systems, and operational applications.
  • Develop data models and ontology structures within Palantir Foundry to support operational and analytical use cases.
  • Create and maintain Snowflake data warehouse solutions for reporting and advanced analytics.
  • Develop Power BI dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to business stakeholders.
  • Implement data quality, validation, auditing, lineage, and governance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with business partners, product owners, and leadership to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Optimize data processing performance and scalability across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Support real-time and batch processing workloads for utility operations and asset management.
  • Document technical architecture, data flows, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and DevOps practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote data engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Data Engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Palantir Foundry.
  • Strong experience with Python and PySpark.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Spark and distributed data processing.
  • Experience developing enterprise data solutions in Snowflake.
  • Experience building interactive dashboards using Power BI.
  • Strong SQL development skills.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT frameworks.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting utility, energy, electric grid, or gas operations.
  • Knowledge of wildfire mitigation, asset management, GIS, or smart grid technologies.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with data governance, master data management, and metadata management.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and advanced analytics workflows.
  • Experience integrating SAP, Maximo, ESRI, SCADA, or IoT data sources.
  • Palantir Foundry certifications preferred.
