Role: Data Engineer AI + Data Engineering
Location: Remote Anywhere in the U.S.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to serve in a flexible advisory and hands-on capacity as we expand an AI initiative. This role will primarily focus on validating architecture and guiding data-intensive technical decisions, while also contributing to hands-on implementation as needed.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of AI and Data Engineering expertise, with experience designing scalable data systems and modern AI/LLM architectures.

Key Objectives

• De-risk major architectural decisions before significant development investment.
• Bring senior-level AI and data engineering expertise to complex technical initiatives.
• Accelerate AI initiatives through expert validation, technical direction, and hands-on implementation.
• Help engineering teams avoid costly rework by establishing scalable designs early.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and validate proposed data architectures and system designs.
• Advise on architecture and best practices for data-intensive AI systems.
• Provide guidance on MCP (Model Context Protocol) system design and implementation.
• Advise on classification systems and related ML/AI workflows.
• Serve as a technical sounding board for engineering and architecture decisions.
• Design and develop scalable data pipelines, storage, and retrieval solutions.
• Support prototyping and production implementation of AI/data solutions.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and clearly communicate architectural recommendations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building data-intensive systems, including exposure to AI/ML solutions.
• Demonstrated expertise with MCP-based system design and implementation.
• Strong experience with classification systems and workflows.
• Familiarity with modern AI/LLM system architectures.
• Strong experience designing data pipelines, storage, and retrieval systems at scale.
• Ability to contribute in both architectural/advisory and hands-on engineering capacities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-specialist audiences.
