Data Center Technician

Ability to perform essential job duties in a climate-controlled data center with fluctuating temperatures and variable airflow, specifically within designated hot and cold aisles ranging from 60°F to 90°F. Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, such as handling small hardware components and cables.

Job Title : Data Center Technician
Location: Caledonia, MI – 100% Onsite
Duration: 6 Months


Salary Range: $70.00 - $75.00/Hour on W2 (Without Benefits).
Applicants must be willing to work on W2
 
What You'll Do:

• Maintain data center operations to ensure service availability and reliability.
• Conduct hardware and network diagnostics and repairs.
• Perform root cause analysis of hardware and software failures.
• Provide training to internal teams.
• Develop documentation.
• Provide technical support to data center teams.
• Develop scripts to update server and networking hardware.
• Maintain inventory.
• Assemble and install equipment.
• Perform maintenance of test and tool equipment.
• Travel up to 10% of the time to other data center locations as required by business needs.
• Respond to on-site equipment failures or emergencies within 60 minutes while on scheduled on-call.

Who You Are:

• Computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and assembly.
• Linux operating system experience.
• Ability to regularly transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods to perform diagnostic and repair tasks.
• Ability to maneuver in cramped or elevated spaces, such as under-floor areas or on ladders, to access server racks.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, such as handling small hardware components and cables.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule within a 24/7 environment, including participating in a rotating on-call shift.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and react quickly to issues.

Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on or education-based experience with any of the following areas:

• Computer hardware, including troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Data center experience.
• Computer networking experience.
• Python, Bash, or other scripting languages.
• Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JunOS.
• An associate degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.

Skills

• Data Center Discovery and Migration.

Experience Required

• 4–6 years of experience.
• 4 to 7 years in Data Center Discovery and Migration.
