    Description

Amazon is looking for a Data Center Operations Technician IV to join our growing team. You will perform hands-on work across the full lifecycle of data center IT infrastructure - installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and decommissioning the servers, racks, and cabling that our customers depend on every day. Your technical judgment and ability to execute procedures safely and accurately will directly impact customer capacity and service reliability.

As a DCO Tech 4, you will work with minimal supervision across multiple data center domains, drive process improvements that scale across sites, and serve as an escalation point for junior team members. If you are a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, physical environment and wants to grow your technical leadership skills, we want to hear from you.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Perform procedures on data center IT infrastructure including rack installation and decommission, server deployment, component replacement, repair work, media destruction, audits, and inventory management.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and systems issues by gathering data, conducting root cause analysis, documenting findings, and implementing or escalating solutions.
    • Review and analyze workflows for optimization opportunities, identify errors, and create or update local and regional procedures to improve team throughput.
    • Coordinate with operations engineers, network technicians, and capacity planning teams to execute projects and remove blockers across sites.
    • Mentor and coach junior technicians, provide technical feedback, and act as a first point of escalation during emergent events.

    A day in the life

You will start your shift by reviewing tickets in the workflow management system and prioritizing tasks for the day. From there you might rack and cable new server hardware, replace a failed component, or work alongside a network technician to troubleshoot a connectivity issue. Between hands-on tasks you will update documentation, flag process gaps to your manager, and check in with a newer teammate who is learning a repair procedure. When an emergent event comes in, you will respond promptly, follow established runbooks, and escalate to senior technicians or support teams when needed.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
