Job Position: Data Center Infrastructure Technician
Location: Castroville, TX 78009
Pay Rate: $25.00 $30.00/hr
TradeSTAR is actively seeking Data Center Infrastructure Technicians to support the deployment of critical network and communications infrastructure within a large-scale data center environment in Castroville, TX. Qualified candidates will have experience with structured cabling systems, fiber optic infrastructure, rack integration, and data center standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
Install, route, secure, and manage high-density copper and fiber optic cabling infrastructure in accordance with TIA-568 and project specifications.
Terminate and test Category 6, Category 6A, multimode, and single-mode fiber optic cabling systems.
Install ladder rack, cable tray, basket tray, runway systems, J-hooks, and other pathway support structures.
Perform rack and stack activities including installation of network switches, servers, patch panels, PDUs, and associated hardware.
Conduct fiber optic testing utilizing OTDR, light source/power meter, and fiber inspection equipment.
Certify copper cabling using Fluke DSX or equivalent certification platforms.
Interpret network diagrams, rack elevations, as-built drawings, floor plans, and structured cabling documentation.
Execute MAC (Moves, Adds, and Changes) activities while maintaining strict adherence to change control procedures.
Maintain cable administration, labeling, and documentation standards within mission-critical environments.
Support commissioning activities and infrastructure turnover requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Experience working within data center, colocation, enterprise, or mission-critical environments.
Working knowledge of structured cabling standards including TIA/EIA and BICSI best practices.
Experience with fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting preferred.
Familiarity with data center white space infrastructure, MDA, HDA, EDA, and cross-connect architectures.
Ability to read and interpret network schematics, rack elevations, and construction drawings.
Proficient with certification and testing equipment including Fluke testers and fiber optic test equipment.
Strong understanding of cable management methodologies and infrastructure documentation requirements.
OSHA 10 certification preferred.
