Data Center / Infrastructure Engineer - Contract

Position Overview
The company is seeking an experienced Data Center / Infrastructure Engineer to support their client as part of a company-led infrastructure project. This resource will provide hands-on administration, troubleshooting, and operational support across virtualized environments, Windows and Linux servers, and Dell compute and storage infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded infrastructure professional who understands traditional data center environments and can confidently work across VMware, Windows Server, Linux, Dell servers, and Dell storage platforms.
Key Responsibilities

• Support and administer enterprise data center infrastructure across compute, virtualization, operating systems, and storage.
• Manage and troubleshoot VMware vSphere environments, including virtual machines, hosts, and associated infrastructure.
• Administer and support Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Support Dell server hardware and troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and infrastructure-related issues.
• Administer and support Dell PowerStore and PowerVault storage environments.
• Monitor infrastructure health, performance, capacity, and availability.
• Troubleshoot server, storage, virtualization, and operating system issues and coordinate escalations when necessary.
• Assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, hardware refreshes, and technology modernization initiatives.
• Perform patching, maintenance, configuration, and lifecycle management activities.
• Work with other infrastructure and application teams to resolve technical dependencies and production issues.
• Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation and operational procedures.
• Follow established change management, incident management, and IT operational processes.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure or data center environments.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere.
• Strong experience administering Windows Server.
• Working knowledge of Linux server environments.
• Experience supporting Dell server hardware.
• Experience with Dell storage, particularly PowerStore and/or PowerVault.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across compute, storage, virtualization, and operating systems.
• Experience working in enterprise environments with established change and incident management processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise data center migrations or modernization projects.
• Experience with backup, disaster recovery, or data protection technologies.
• Familiarity with Active Directory and Microsoft infrastructure services.
• Experience with SCCM, Intune, or Microsoft patch management.
• Dell certifications or VMware certifications.
• Experience working in a consulting, systems integrator, MSP, or staff augmentation environment.
