Job Title: Data Center H&F Support Engineer

Location: Westmont, IL 60559

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Data Center H&F Support Engineer to provide hands-on support for data center infrastructure operations in a 24x7 environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with server hardware, rack/stack activities, cabling, break-fix support, installations, and decommissioning of data center equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 24x7 operational support for data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking equipment, and racks.
• Perform hands-on data center activities including rack and stack, hardware installation, cabling (fiber/copper), troubleshooting, and equipment replacement.
• Install, configure, test, and decommission data center hardware including servers, storage devices, routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Perform break/fix activities and resolve hardware-related incidents within defined SLAs.
• Execute hardware moves, additions, changes, and maintenance activities.
• Support data center projects, new equipment deployments, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Manage rack space, power, cooling, and capacity planning activities.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for installations, repairs, and troubleshooting.
• Monitor data center operations and ensure infrastructure availability.
• Maintain accurate documentation, inventory records, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 3-7 years of experience in data center operations or hardware support.

• Strong hands-on experience with:

• Servers and storage hardware

• Rack/stack and cable management

• Fiber and copper cabling

• Hardware installation and troubleshooting

• Break/fix support

• Experience supporting enterprise data center environments.

• Basic knowledge of networking devices such as switches, routers, and firewalls.

• Experience working in a 24x7 shift-based support environment.

• Ability to handle incidents, service requests, and follow SLA requirements.

• Strong communication and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with data center monitoring and operational tools.
• Knowledge of capacity planning and infrastructure management.
• Vendor coordination experience.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and ticketing systems.

Work Environment:

• Fully onsite data center role.
• Must be flexible to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Requires physical activity including equipment handling and movement within the data center.
