Vaco is hiring a Data Analytics Engineer for our client in Cincinnati, OH.
This role combines analytics engineering, dashboard development, data quality, and hands-on operational support for a multi-layered data architecture, supporting billions of records of data and a myriad of database assets for over 8 active data integrations.
You will design and build reporting dashboards that help internal business teams and insured customers understand telematics trends, risk indicators, and insurance-focused insights. You will partner directly with stakeholders to define meaningful metrics, translate business questions into data products, and present complex findings in a clear and useful way.
You will also support the day-to-day operation and continued growth of a large production data pipeline. This includes monitoring data health, investigating pipeline and data quality issues, responding to operational needs, improving observability, and helping ensure that data remains dependable as integrations and use cases expand.
Key Responsibilities
•Design, build, and maintain reporting dashboards for telematics and Insurance insights, serving both internal stakeholders and insured customers.
•Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define metrics and key performance indicators, and translate business questions into actionable reporting solutions.
•Build and optimize analytical data models that support accurate, performant, and reusable dashboard experiences.
•Develop clear visualizations and narratives that help any audience understand telematics trends, risk signals, operational performance, and data quality.
•Support the day-to-day operation of our internal data pipelines by monitoring data health, investigating anomalies, troubleshooting pipeline issues, and coordinating resolution across data sources and processing layers.
•Analyze and validate large datasets in Snowflake for accuracy, completeness, validity, consistency, and fitness for reporting.
•Support maintenance of a Python and SQL-based data quality testing framework, including tests, monitoring, alerting, documentation, and operational visibility.
•Identify upstream and downstream dependencies, determine the impact of data issues, and help prevent recurrence through durable technical improvements.
•Support current integrations and help prepare our ecosystem for new data sources, reporting needs, and insurance use cases.
•Contribute to standards and best practices for analytics engineering, dashboard development, data quality, testing, documentation, and observability.
Required Skills and Experience
•2+ years of experience using Python and at least one SQL dialect.
•Experience building modern dashboards and data visualizations with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, or Streamlit.
•Experience translating stakeholder requirements into metrics, analytical data models, dashboards, and technical implementation plans.
•Experience designing data models optimized for reporting and analytics for internal or external users.
•Experience analyzing and troubleshooting data across multiple processing layers, including structured and unstructured data.
•Strong documentation habits and the ability to explain complex data decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
•Ability to balance planned development work with day-to-day operational support and issue investigation.
Preferred Experience
•Experience with telematics, IoT, connected vehicle, or commercial auto Insurance data.
•Experience working with Snowflake and production data pipelines.
•Experience supporting customer-facing or business-critical dashboards and analytical products.
•Experience with data quality frameworks, automated testing, monitoring, alerting, or observability.
•Comfort using AI or LLM-based tools to accelerate development, analysis, and documentation while maintaining appropriate review and quality standards.
