    Description

    We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Data Analyst with a strong background in the Trading and Capital Markets domain. In this role, you will act as a critical bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams at BNY. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience navigating and analyzing data within Mainframe environments specifically tailored for Fiserv applications. You will be responsible for analyzing complex trading data, mapping data flows, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the optimization of post-trade processing and capital market systems.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Domain-Specific Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret complex datasets related to trading, trade lifecycle, settlements, and capital markets operations.
    • Mainframe & Fiserv Navigation: Extract, query, and analyze data residing in Mainframe architectures, specifically interacting with Fiserv platforms and related financial processing systems.
    • Data Mapping & Lineage: Conduct detailed data mapping, track data lineage, and create data dictionaries to support system migrations, integrations, and regulatory reporting.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business stakeholders, traders, risk managers, and IT engineering teams at BNY to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical data specifications.
    • Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Investigate data discrepancies, identify root causes of data quality issues within the trading ecosystem, and propose scalable solutions.
    • Reporting & Documentation: Design and maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, processes, and business logic. Create dashboards and reports to communicate data insights to leadership.
    • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all data analysis and management practices adhere to BNY's strict data governance, security, and financial regulatory compliance standards.
    Required Qualifications and Skills
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Data Science, or a related field.
    • Experience: 5+ years of proven experience as a Data Analyst within the financial services industry.
    • Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of Trading and Capital Markets (e.g., Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Trade Lifecycle, Clearing, and Settlement).
    • Technical Proficiency:
      • Strong working knowledge of Mainframe systems and environments.
      • Hands-on experience with Fiserv financial products/platforms.
      • Advanced proficiency in SQL for querying relational databases (e.g., DB2, Oracle, SQL Server).
    • Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to map complex data architectures and perform rigorous root-cause analysis on large datasets.
    • Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's degree in a quantitative or business-related field.
    • Familiarity with Mainframe query/processing tools (e.g., JCL, VSAM, or CICS).
    • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
    • Knowledge of Python or R for advanced data analysis and automation.
    • Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience using Jira/Confluence.
    • Industry certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, or Data Analytics certifications) are a strong plus.
