Job Title: DARC Calibration Engineer

Job Description

The DARC Calibration Engineer develops, analyzes, and optimizes digital signal processing algorithms for advanced radar systems. This role focuses on radar signal processing, IQ data analysis, and statistical evaluation of complex datasets, while supporting modeling, simulation, and performance assessment activities in MATLAB. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to integrate signal processing solutions into radar systems and contributes to continuous improvement of radar performance and calibration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for radar applications, with a focus on calibration and performance optimization.
  • Perform IQ data analysis to evaluate radar signal performance characteristics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Apply statistical analysis techniques to complex radar datasets to assess system behavior and algorithm effectiveness.
  • Support radar modeling, simulation, and performance assessment activities using MATLAB.
  • Analyze radar system behavior and contribute to the development, tuning, and optimization of radar algorithms.
  • Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineers to integrate signal processing solutions into radar systems.
  • Document technical analyses, algorithm designs, simulation results, and test outcomes in a clear and traceable manner.
  • Utilize source code control systems, such as Git, to manage software and algorithm development activities and maintain configuration control.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Professional experience in digital signal processing (DSP) with emphasis on radar applications.
  • Proficiency in statistics and statistical analysis techniques applied to signal and radar data.
  • Hands-on experience with IQ data analysis and interpretation of complex radar signals.
  • Strong foundation in microwave engineering and radar fundamentals.
  • Advanced proficiency with MATLAB for algorithm development, modeling, simulation, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of radar signal processing concepts and practical implementation considerations.
  • Understanding of radar system theory and its application to real-world radar architectures.
  • Experience using source code control systems, such as Git, for managing algorithm and software development.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Additional years of relevant engineering experience supporting radar, advanced sensing, or similar high-technology programs.
  • Deep knowledge of radar signal processing, including advanced algorithms for detection, estimation, and tracking.
  • Strong understanding of radar system theory, including system-level performance metrics and trade-offs.
  • Experience with advanced radar data analysis techniques and algorithm development for complex scenarios.
  • Experience in supporting defense, aerospace, or advanced sensing programs (where applicable).
  • Familiarity with structured software development practices, including documentation, configuration management, and code review.

Work Environment

The DARC Calibration Engineer works in a highly technical, collaborative environment focused on advanced radar and sensing technologies. The role involves extensive use of MATLAB and related tools for modeling, simulation, and data analysis, as well as regular use of source code control systems such as Git to manage algorithm and software artifacts. The engineer collaborates closely with systems, software, and hardware teams, participating in design reviews, technical discussions, and integration activities. Work is primarily performed in an office or laboratory setting with access to high-performance computing resources and specialized test equipment, supporting a structured, process-driven engineering environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $175000.00/hr.
