SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE
Gregg County Special Education Shared Service Arrangement is currently seeking applicants for a FULL-TIME position for Special Education Instructional Aide at the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) for the 2026-27 school year. The location of the classroom is White Oak ISD.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED and Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate.
- Ability to work well with students with disabilities; ability to follow verbal and written instructions of teacher; knowledge of general office equipment.
- Two years of experience working with children is preferred.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To function under the direct supervision of the Special Education teacher, campus principal, and Director of Special Education.
- To assist students with behavioral disabilities according to their individualized needs.
- To assist students with physical care including feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene, if necessary.
- To work with individual students or small groups to achieve individualized learning objectives.
- To assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus duty and physical education.
- To assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- To keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
- To assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
- To maintain confidentiality and treat all information about students and their families in strictest confidence.
- To provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- To participate in staff development training programs, staff meetings, and special events as needed.
- To work directly with students in reinforcing skills previously introduced by the teacher.
- To monitor students who are working with individualized programmed material.
- Provide assistance to the special education teacher as the instructional program is implemented.
- To monitor students in the cafeteria, restroom, hallway, playground, during field trips, school assemblies, special events, at snack, nap time, and before and after school.
- To perform all duties as otherwise directed by supervisors.
SALARY: Dependent on years of experience as per salary schedule for Sabine ISD
