    Description

    The D.O.T. Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing our compliance, behaviors and data that contribute to our Federal Motor Carrier Safety Rating and SMS scores. He/she ensures companywide compliance with all DOT and FMCSA regulations. This individual typically works under limited supervision and expected to work long hours and subject to working weekends and holidays.

    • Manage all categories contributing to our SMS scores from FMCSA.

    • Manage and audit all DOT required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

    • driver fitness files
    • Store, monitor and audits HOS, both via ELD and paper logs, and assists the branches in maintaining compliance.
    • Store and manage all aspects of driver qualification files for completeness and up to date.

    • Store, pay and manage behaviors associated with DOT citations.
    • Educates field offices of regulations and provides continued support to develop a strong compliance program for drivers and vehicles.
    • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Risk Management which are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications of the position.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

    Essential:

    • Knowledge of DOT policies, practices, guidelines, taxes, and licensing.
    • Skill in using computers and standard software applications and specialized permitting software.
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Must have proficient oral and written communication skills.
    • Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and fit for duty test.

    Desired:

    • Prefer candidates with at least a bachelor's degree and 5 years of Transportation experience.
