Cytotechnologist in South Carolina - Permanent HirePrimary Responsibilities- Microscopic evaluation of gyn, non-gyn, and FNA specimens
- Participate in continuing education, gyn and non-gyn CAP surveys, and annual proficiency testing event
- Maintain QA and QC documentation
Work ScheduleMonday-Friday: Flexible start between 7am-8am
Job TypeFull Time
Essential Functions- Examine gynecological and/or non-gynecological slides daily according to department protocols
- Records findings in computer system
- Records required data on daily screening and departmental logs
- Identify and correct problems affecting test performance
- Communicate section information/issues to appropriate individuals
- Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
- Assist in maintaining effective QA/QC programs
- Participate in continuing education and proficiency testing events
- Adhere to lab safety precautions and procedures
- Perform job responsibilities in alignment with industry best practices
Educational/Training Requirements- B.S. or M.S in an Accredited Cytotechnology program
- Certificate in Cytotechnology (ASCP)
- ThinPrep Morphology Certification
- Hologic Review Scope Training
- Annual PT Testing
Experience RequirementsMinimum of three years’ experience as a cytotechnologist in Gyn, Non-gyn, and FNA screening preferred
Skills and Abilities- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while maintaining a quiet zone environment
- Ability to read, write, and speak clearly in English
- Ability to understand and use anatomic pathology and medical terminology
Work EnvironmentThe job may involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens, and/or toxic/biohazardous materials common in a laboratory environment. Safety training and personal protective equipment will be provided.
