Position: CyberSource Payment Gateway & Integration Consultant (Unified Checkout)
Type: Contract / Consulting
Location: Remote
CLIENT CONFIDENTIAL – DOMAIN IS EDUCATION
Position Overview
THE CLIENT is seeking an experienced CyberSource Payment Gateway &
Integration Consultant to architect, implement, and deploy a direct migration to
CyberSource Unified Checkout ahead of the mandated June 2027 deadline.
To ensure technical independence and reliability, CLIENT is bypassing third-party ERP-
bundled solutions in favor of a direct, custom-tailored implementation. The ideal
consultant will bring deep expertise with CyberSource integration APIs and payment
workflows to deliver a secure, seamless transaction experience that CLIENT IT staff can
easily maintain, troubleshoot, and update internally post-deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Architecture & Deployment: Design and implement a robust, PCI-
compliant integration with CyberSource Unified Checkout tailored to CLIENT's
application ecosystem and payment processing workflows.
Alternative Solution Engineering: Build a clean, decoupled integration that
operates independently of stock Oracle/P12 middleware to avoid legacy system
constraints and vendor dependencies.
Security & Compliance: Ensure full adherence to PCI-DSS standards, secure
tokenization practices, and modern web payment security protocols across all
checkout entry points.
Testing & Validation: Execute comprehensive end-to-end testing—including
sandbox simulations, edge-case payment handling, error recovery, and
production reconciliation verification.
Knowledge Transfer & Documentation: Produce clear architectural diagrams,
API documentation, and operational runbooks, alongside hands-on technical
handoff sessions to ensure complete CLIENT IT self-sufficiency.
Required Qualifications & Experience
CyberSource Technical Expertise: Proven track record of successful
CyberSource payment implementations, with direct hands-on experience
deploying CyberSource Unified Checkout (REST APIs, Secure Acceptance,
and SDKs).
Payment Gateway Architecture: Deep understanding of payment processing
lifecycles, tokenization, authorization/capture flows, multi-tender processing, and
refund mechanics.
System Maintainability: Strong commitment to delivering clean, well-
commented, modular code structured for long-term maintainability by in-house
enterprise IT teams.
PCI Compliance: Solid working knowledge of PCI-DSS requirements and web
security best practices for higher education or enterprise payment portals.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience integrating payment gateways with Higher Education enterprise
systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Student Financials, or web portal front-ends).
Proven success replacing or bypassing default vendor-provided payment
adapters with direct gateway APIs.
How to Apply / Proposal Requirements
Interested consultants or development partners should submit:
1. Technical Profile / Resume demonstrating recent, relevant experience with
CyberSource API implementations (specifically Unified Checkout).
2. Project Case Studies / References highlighting custom payment gateway
integrations delivered for enterprise or higher education clients.
3. Transition & Hand-off Plan outlining your methodology for technical
documentation and internal team enablement.
