Completes tasks designed to ensure the organization''s online systems and digital assets are secured. Protects against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction of digital assets, and develops IT security policies and standards. Works with end users to determine cybersecurity needs of individual departments. Understands Internet architecture and firewall configuration to protect system security. Responsible for the proactive assessment and analysis of threat information, understanding threats as they relate to the organization, and implementing measures to prevent or combat existing and potential threats. May need to authorize user access and be familiar with domain structures and digital signatures.

Essential Job Functions

  • Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
  • Make decisions about the best tools for any given security issue including evaluation of new products.
  • Provide advice on IT initiatives, IT business projects, and IT engineering regarding security industry best practices.
  • Analyze cyber network events and determine impact on current operations through all-source intelligence.
  • Maintain knowledge of the current security threat level by monitoring related Internet postings, Intelligence reports, and other related documents as necessary.
  • Implement and monitor controls necessary to ensure processes are performed and are effective to protect the environment from all forms of malicious cyber activity.
  • Determine if security events monitored should be escalated to incidents and follow all applicable incident response and reporting processes and procedures.
  • Research emerging security technologies for applicability
  • Work with other security team members to augment their role and advise on issues.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
