    Approval: ___ Approval: __ (Executive Director of Human Resources) (Superintendent) Job Summary The Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for the hands-on technical implementation and management of the school district's cybersecurity program. Reporting to the Director of Technology, this critical role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security measures to protect student and staff data, district networks, and critical systems. The analyst will ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the district's digital assets and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, including FERPA, CIPA, and relevant state student privacy laws. This position combines deep technical expertise with proactive threat monitoring, incident response, and collaboration with all members of the district community to foster a secure digital learning environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities System Implementation and Management

    • Design, implement, configure, and maintain cybersecurity tools and infrastructure (e.g., firewalls, SIEM, endpoint protection, content filters, IDS/IPS).
    • Ensure all security solutions are operating optimally, patched, and configured according to best practices and district policies.
    • Recommend and enforce security procedures for all district technology assets, including network infrastructure, servers, and end-user devices. Incident Response and Technical Support
    • Serve as the primary technical responder for security incidents; lead containment, investigation, remediation, and recovery efforts.
    • Monitor security alerts and logs (e.g., from SIEM, firewalls, and EDR) to detect, triage, and respond to suspicious activities in real-time.
    • Provide expert-level (Tier 3) technical support for cybersecurity-related issues, assisting technicians and end-users as the subject matter expert. Vulnerability and Risk Management
    • Conduct regular vulnerability scans, risk assessments, and security audits of networks, servers, and applications.
    • Proactively identify, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities to reduce the district's attack surface.
    • Generate regular reports on system performance, security posture, and identified risks for the Director of Technology.

    Documentation and Compliance

    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all cybersecurity systems, procedures, and incident response playbooks.
    • Document all security incidents, investigations, and remediation steps in the district's incident tracking system.
    • Assist the Director of Technology in ensuring and documenting compliance with CIPA, FERPA, and other relevant data privacy regulations. Training and Awareness
    • Develop and help deliver cybersecurity awareness training materials and presentations for staff and students.
    • Promote best practices for digital citizenship and security, such as password hygiene, phishing awareness, and safe browsing habits. Vendor Relations
    • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate, test, and procure new cybersecurity solutions that meet district needs.
    • Manage relationships with security vendors to ensure effective support, service, and timely resolution of issues.
    • Coordinate system upgrades and maintenance with internal teams and external partners to minimize disruption to the learning environment.

    Technology Job Description

    Cybersecurity Analyst Work Requirements and Characteristics Education/Certification Requirement:

    • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. (Sufficient relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
    • Associate in Arts degree in Cybersecurity or a relevant field with 5 years of experience may be considered.
    • Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GSEC, CISSP, or equivalent) are preferred. Experience Requirement:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a cybersecurity operations, analyst, or engineering role.
    • Experience in a K-12 or higher education environment is highly preferred.
    • Demonstrable experience with network security (firewalls, VPNs), endpoint security (EDR, anti-virus), and security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
    • Familiarity with educational technology platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Student Information Systems) is a plus. Essential skills required to perform the work:
