Job Description:

Manages inventory by creating requisitions for ordering, tracking movement of orders and supplies, and documenting the return or receipt of supplies through the appropriate inventory system. Manages data input for inventory control in the department's information system. Inspects package integrity and rotates stock to reduce expiration of products. Maintains appropriate par levels and minimizes overnight shipping. Manages the loan and borrow process, including receiving and tracking supplies and equipment. Manages equipment and instrument trays borrowed or loaned between departments, system hospitals, or other community hospitals. Ensures all inventory stock supplies have the appropriate identification numbers. Assists with purchase order discrepancies, return goods authorization, contract pricing, and other accounting issues. Supports customer and employee satisfaction activities. Manages inventory locations and storage areas to ensure environmental controls are maintained. Establishes and adheres to routine cleaning and inspection schedules for all inventory locations. Processes department repairs and special orders or requests within the budget for the designated department.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Organizational skills. [Required]
  • Current knowledge of Medical Terminology or completion of Hospital approved course within one year of hire. [Required]
  • Computer skills. [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of inventory control concepts [Preferred]

Education:

  • High School Grad or Equiv [Preferred]

Field of Study:

  • or GED
  • Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting or materials management experience
