CVOR Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Rock Hill, SC
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:30 AM–3:00 PM
Call Requirement: Rotating call coverage after 3:00 PM and on weekends. Elective procedures are not scheduled after 3:00 PM or on weekends.
Compensation: $36.00–$49.18 per hour (based on experience)
Additional Compensation: Generous Sign-On Bonus Available (paid in installments based on eligibility)

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced CVOR Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time opportunity in Rock Hill, South Carolina. This role is responsible for delivering specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures within a high-acuity operating room environment.

The CVOR RN serves as a critical member of the surgical team, supporting surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and other healthcare professionals throughout the perioperative process. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, cardiovascular surgical experience, and a commitment to patient safety, quality outcomes, and collaborative care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care throughout the perioperative continuum.

  • Perform circulating nurse duties during cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, and vascular surgical procedures.

  • Monitor patient status before, during, and after surgery, identifying and responding appropriately to changes in condition.

  • Maintain a safe, sterile, and efficient surgical environment while adhering to infection prevention and regulatory standards.

  • Coordinate physician orders, surgical schedules, patient documentation, consent forms, and procedural requirements.

  • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, blood products, and other treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.

  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and communicate findings promptly to the appropriate providers.

  • Review, interpret, and communicate laboratory and diagnostic test results according to established clinical protocols.

  • Operate and assist with specialized cardiovascular surgical equipment and advanced technologies utilized during procedures.

  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, patient responses, and surgical activities within the electronic medical record.

  • Participate in patient safety initiatives, quality improvement programs, and departmental performance goals.

  • Maintain clinical competency through continuing education, professional development, and compliance with organizational standards.

  • Support efficient operating room workflow while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and clinical excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.

  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

  • Valid Permanent Multi-State RN License from the state of residence required.

  • Nurses residing in another Compact State must obtain a Multi-State RN License from their state of residence within 30 days of hire.

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within seven days of hire.

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required during orientation.

  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.

  • Proficiency with perioperative documentation systems and electronic medical records (EMR).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Previous Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience supporting open-heart, vascular, and cardiothoracic surgical procedures.

  • Knowledge of cardiovascular surgical equipment, technologies, and perioperative nursing best practices.

  • Experience working within high-volume surgical services environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary surgical teams.

Compensation

  • $36.00/hour: Typically 1 year of RN experience

  • $41.17/hour: Typically 8–11 years of RN experience

  • Up to $49.18/hour: Typically 20+ years of RN experience

Final compensation is determined based on experience, education, certifications, and overall qualifications.

This position is based within a cardiovascular operating room environment and requires the ability to function effectively in a highly specialized, fast-paced surgical setting. The role involves direct patient care, collaboration with multidisciplinary clinical teams, and participation in an on-call rotation to support emergent cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical cases.
