General Description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST III

Responsible and advanced clerical and public contact work in obtaining, maintaining, and providing information regarding a variety of County operations. Provides a professional and courteous response via telephone, in person, in writing and on-line. Duties include lead worker responsibility.

Essential Job Functions

Function as the lead worker in the Customer Service department within Animal Services. Provide information to the public about Animal Services, operations and services. Responsible for managing the Animal Services lobby, this includes its customers (people & animals) all while providing excellent customer service. Responsible for ordering retail supplies, maintaining the pet food pantry, cash drawer handling, overseeing opening and closing procedures. Assigns work to customer service employees and assists in evaluating work performance. Provides specific information about county procedures, regulations, fees, ordinances, permits, billing, and services. Receives requests for information and services. Resolves more difficult questions when referred by staff. Performs clerical duties, processes records, worksheets, logs, and applications for services. Performs data retrieval and entry into an animal software application. Updates information on the computer. Generate reports from the computer. Assists citizens with inquiries, complaints, investigations, billing questions, and account information. Upon Emergency Operations Center activation, employees must be prepared to work additional hours and job duties. Performs related work as required.

  • Knowledge of standard office methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of County departments, operations and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain records/files, prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to interact with the public effectively, courteously, and disseminate information appropriately even during elevated emotional interactions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, in person, in writing and on-line.
  • Ability to read for comprehension.
  • Ability to use a computer and related software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain files accurately and legibly.
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to handle animals as needed.
  • Ability to assign work and direct the activities of a customer service staff.

Minimum Requirements

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Must be able to lift 30lbs.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Three (3) years of experience in customer service duties involving frequent public contact. Supervisory experience preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida drivers license.
