    Penn Medicine, Family Medicine in Quarryville, PA has a Customer Service Specialist opening


    Hours: Part-time, 32 hours per week

    Schedule:

    • Monday through Thursday: 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM (scheduled shifts within these hours)
    • One evening per week required until 8:00 PM
    • Saturday rotation: Once every 4 to 5 weeks, 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM

    Brief Overview:
    Provide accurate and efficient patient scheduling, registration, and appointment check-out services while delivering excellent customer service. Responsible for processing incoming faxes, handling patient requests, maintaining accurate patient information, and supporting daily front office operations to ensure smooth patient flow and communication.

    What You Will Do

    • Provide complete and accurate patient registration services for walk-in, scheduled, and check-in appointments.
    • Schedule patient appointments and perform check-out functions while ensuring a positive patient experience.
    • Manage inbound and outbound calls, accurately relay messages, and follow established protocols for emergent, urgent, and non-urgent communications.
    • Process incoming faxes, patient requests, and required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Maintain composure and efficiency during periods of high patient volume and increased activity.
    • Address routine patient questions and concerns professionally, escalating complex issues to leadership when appropriate.
    • Support Point of Service Collections by collecting patient financial obligations and explaining co-pays, out-of-pocket expenses, appointment preparations, and arrival requirements.
    • Verify patient demographics, guarantor information, insurance coverage, and account details to ensure accurate records.
    • Scan and index required documents into the patient's medical record and forward appropriate documentation to Health Information Management within established timeframes.
    • Complete required documentation to support compliance, regulatory requirements, and order processing.
    • Maintain knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while protecting patient confidentiality and ensuring high-quality customer service.

    Qualifications
    Req H.S. Diploma/GED
    Req 1+ years clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience in a highly customer-oriented organization
    Req 1+ years basic keyboarding, personal computer use, and other office setting equipment
    Pref Previous Epic or equivalent Electronic Medical Record experience
    Pref 1+ years registration experience, point of service collection, insurance validation, understanding of compliance /regulatory guidelines and order release process(es)
    Pref 1+ years' experience of Revenue Cycle in a Hospital/Medical Office Setting
