ABOUT THE POSITION The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for the sale of goods for wholesalers or manufacturers to businesses or groups of individuals. This position will require substantial knowledge of Astec products sold.

Deliverables & Responsibilities

  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability and product uses.
  • Schedule work order meetings for all construction jobs to include confirmation of signed contracts and/or purchase orders.
  • Act as liaison between sales and accounting for customer invoicing issues
  • Prepare and deliver equipment quotations / proposals to meet customer specifications with product availability, pricing, and order status.
  • Effectively present product offerings to customers
  • Obtain freight quotes from multiple carriers.
  • Produce quotes for Sales Representatives
  • Obtain quotes from outside vendors/contractors.
  • Calculate discount percentages.
  • Schedule work order meetings for all construction jobs to include confirmation of signed contracts and/or purchase orders.
  • Act as liaison between sales and accounting for customer invoicing issues
  • Conduct plant tours during customer visits
  • Provide complete information to facilitate order fulfillment.
  • Comply with all company and customer safety policies.
  • Participate in customer entertainment events as appropriate.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or technical school preferred but not required with sufficient experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience in Sales/Customer Relations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to gain acceptance of a product, service or idea.
  • Ability to effectively speak publicly and make presentations before groups.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills as well as math proficiency.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team player while meeting the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Strong multitasking capability and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Time management skills are critical for scheduling, meeting customer needs, and meeting deadlines.
  • Desire to be proactive and create a positive experience for others.
  • Understanding of import/export process for manufacturing equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, SharePoint, Quote Works & Act, and Visual Manufacturing.

Travel Requirements: 5% of travel, regional, international
