General Summary:

We are seeking a customer-focused Customer Quality Engineer to serve as the primary quality interface between customers and internal engineering teams for ASIC products. This role is responsible for managing customer quality issues, leading Return Material Authorization (RMA) investigations, driving root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and partnering with development teams to improve product quality throughout the ASIC lifecycle

The ideal candidate combines strong semiconductor technical expertise with excellent customer engagement skills, enabling effective management of field quality issues while influencing product and process improvements across design, validation, product engineering, test, packaging, and manufacturing organizations

Key Responsibilities

Customer Quality Management

• Act as the primary quality contact for customers on ASIC product quality matters.
• Build trusted relationships with customer engineering, quality, and operations teams.
• Communicate quality status, investigation results, and corrective action plans in a clear and timely manner.
• Support customer audits, quality reviews, and escalation management.

RMA and Field Failure Analysis

• Own the end-to-end RMA process for returned ASIC devices.
• Coordinate failure analysis activities with internal labs and external partners.
• Lead investigations to determine root cause of customer-reported failures.
• Track and report RMA trends, failure mechanisms, and recurring issues.
• Drive timely closure of customer returns and corrective action commitments.

Root Cause and Corrective Action

• Facilitate cross-functional root-cause investigations involving:

• Design Engineering

• Verification Engineering

• Validation Engineering

• Product Engineering

• Test Engineering

• Package Engineering

• Manufacturing Operations

• Lead structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and CAPA.

• Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and verified for effectiveness.

Product Development Quality

• Provide customer quality feedback into ASIC development programs.
• Participate in design reviews and development milestones to proactively address quality risks.
• Work with engineering teams to reduce defect escapes and improve product robustness.
• Drive lessons learned from field issues into future product development cycles.

Quality Metrics and Reporting

• Monitor and report customer quality KPIs including:

• RMA rates

• Failure analysis turnaround time

• Customer-reported defect trends

• Corrective action closure performance

• Customer satisfaction metrics

• Present quality performance and risk assessments to management and customers.

Manufacturing and Supply Chain Interface

• Partner with foundries, OSATs, test houses, and manufacturing teams during quality investigations.
• Support containment actions and disposition decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality, reliability, and customer experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor''s Degree in Applied Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in semiconductor quality, product engineering, customer quality, reliability, failure analysis, or manufacturing engineering.
• Strong understanding of ASIC product development and manufacturing processes.
• Experience managing customer escalations and quality-related issues.
• Knowledge of semiconductor failure analysis techniques and methodologies.
• Experience leading root-cause analysis and corrective action activities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with customer-facing experience.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$92,000.00 - $138,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
