    Your Job

As a Customer Engagement Lead within the Assets team, you will connect customer priorities with commercial insights and KBX's railcar investment strategy to create value for our customers and the business. The Customer Engagement Lead builds a deep understanding of our customers' businesses, priorities, and strategic objectives. This includes understanding their rail operations, fleet strategies, market dynamics, and economic drivers. You will translate that knowledge into meaningful analysis, well-grounded recommendations, and coordinated action that support informed decision-making.

This role serves as a trusted advisor to customers and influences commercial decisions. Success requires strong customer judgment, analytical and financial capabilities, proactive communication, consistent follow-through, and the ability to influence outcomes through strong relationships and cross-functional partnership.

    Our Team

The Assets team builds strong relationships across Koch and with external business partners to provide solutions that connect customer priorities with fleet strategy, operational execution, and informed business decisions. We work cross-functionally within KBX to improve the utilization, visibility, stewardship, and commercial performance of the railcar assets portfolio. We value collaboration, sound analysis, innovative solutions, proactive communication, and clear ownership of commitments.

    What You Will Do

    • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for customers, building trusted relationships and a deep understanding of their business priorities, operations, fleet strategies, and economic drivers
    • Facilitate strategic customer discussions, bring forward market insights, articulate alternatives and tradeoffs, and provide fact-based recommendations that address business needs, opportunities, and risks
    • Lead monthly customer meetings and quarterly business reviews, connect customers with relevant data and solutions, address their needs and priorities, and support informed business decisions
    • Partner with our Commercial Leadership team on railcar renewals and bring forward our customers' strategic priorities to support lessor negotiations
    • Evaluate financial and maintenance analysis to identify railcar purchase opportunities that support KBX's railcar investment strategy and portfolio growth objectives
    • Collaborate with the KBX Accounting team to validate financial assumptions and outputs that support well-grounded commercial recommendations
    • Manage the customer-facing aspects of railcar onboarding and offboarding projects, including new customer setup, project updates, issue resolution, and communication of risks, delays, and next steps
    • Develop dashboards, analytical tools, and reporting that provide insights into fleet utilization, maintenance activity, renewals, cost-to-serve, and commercial priorities
    • Translate complex data into clear, decision-ready analysis and recommendations, ensuring data and conclusions are well supported
    • Leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance analysis and develop innovative solutions that improve customer and business outcomes
    • Travel up to 30%

    Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

    • Experience leading discussions, presenting recommendations, and building alignment that supports customer and business decisions
    • Experience coordinating cross-functional work and managing multiple customers, priorities, and stakeholders
    • Experience developing business reviews, dashboards, reporting, or other decision-ready analysis for customers and internal stakeholders

    What Will Put You Ahead

    • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, supply chain, transportation, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
    • Experience supporting railcar leasing, fleet utilization, maintenance, renewal, onboarding, or offboarding activities
    • Experience using customer, fleet, financial, or maintenance data to identify opportunities and support commercial decisions
