Custodian - East Iberville School JobID: 639 Position Type: Custodial/CustodianDate Posted: 10/20/2026Location: East Iberville Elementary & High School Closing Date: 11/03/2026 Additional Information: Show/HideTITLECustodianQUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalency is preferred.Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment, and ability to use them economically and efficiently;Additional criteria as the Board may establish.Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks and duties.REPORTS TO Head CustodianSUPERVISES Non-ApplicableTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 12 MonthsPAY GRADE 18JOB GOAL To maintain a clean, safe and healthy environmentPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure that all health and safety codes are properly applied.Locks and unlocks doors, checks the security of school building and grounds, and activates the burglar alarm.Sweeps and wet and dry mops floors.Strips and waxes floors and operates buffing machine.Vacuums and cares for carpeting.Washes windows and walls and polishes furniture.Cleans restrooms, kitchen area, cafeteria and overhead lights.Folds and unfolds chairs and moves furniture.Dusts woodwork, furniture and other articles.Picks up paper and debris on grounds.Checks heating and air-conditioning equipment for proper operation.Raises and lowers flag.Makes minor repairs to buildings, building equipment and furniture.Delivers packages and messages.Replaces light bulbs.Replenishes supplies.Empties and cleans waste receptacles.Maintains equipment and materials used in the workplace.Assists in loading and unloading trucks and carries packages.Cleans boiler room.Performs simple painting and other trades tasks.Cleans and sweeps bleachers.Cuts grass and hedges and rakes clipping.Cleans chalkboards and chalk sills.Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance. Assist in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives. Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.Performs any additional duties assigned by superintendent and/or evaluator.
