Custodian

Position Information

This position is 8 hours/day (Monday-Friday, 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.). This position is assigned to Bellaire Education Center in White Bear Lake, MN. The hourly rate range is $22.35/hour to $26.36/hour with the starting rate determined based on relevant experience. The position has a shift differential of $.85/hour. Nature of Work

Incumbents are responsible for performing basic custodial work in assigned area. Responsibilities may include: sweeping and mopping floors; emptying garbage; cleaning classrooms, restrooms and hallways; and setting up and breaking down rooms.

Typical Class Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of custodial duties including: stripping, buffing, sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, vacuuming, and mopping of floors; cleaning windows and louvers; cleaning and sanitizing sinks, counters, drinking fountains, glass, restroom(s), toilets, and urinals; washing walls, woodwork, chalkboards, baseboards, doors, and handles; and cleaning carpet.
• Collects and disposes of trash and recycling items.
• Operates and maintains a variety of cleaning and/or maintenance equipment and tools.
• Monitors supply and inventory levels and notifies appropriate individual of the need to replenish items; restocks supplies and/or inventory items upon receipt; and prevents the waste or careless use of supplies, equipment, and utilities.
• Sets up, moves, rearranges, and breaks down furniture and equipment.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Training and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.). One year of relevant experience performing similar duties.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
