At the full performance level (WG-04) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performs custodial/janitorial duties including: cleaning, sanitizing, emptying trash, and restocking public restrooms; cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, emptying trash and recyclables.
• Scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors using heavy (industrial type) power scrubber and buffer.
• Washes walls using powered wall washing machines and/or by hand.
• Vacuums/cleans rugs, carpets, etc. using heavy vacuum cleaner. Adjusts, cleans, and oils these machines and changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments. Moves heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment.
• Occasionally works on ladders and scaffolds to change light bulbs, wash walls, etc.
• Keep shop areas clean and in order.
• Sweeps and wet mops floor and removes various liquid and solid wastes, spills, etc.
• On a regular and recurring basis operates light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds (such as pick-up trucks, flatbed trucks, 5 yard dump trucks, etc.) to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sited located on the park.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

Your resume must clearly show that you are able to perform custodial services and motor vehicle operations with full supervision such as:

• Custodial work including: cleaning floors, washing walls and windows, cleaning and restocking restrooms, moving heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment in order to clean.
• Pick up litter, empty trash receptacles
• Climb and work from ladders and scaffolding, move heavy boxes, crates, or other obstacles.
• Operate and maintain heavy vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers.
• Determine appropriate products, tools and methods to use to complete task.
• Operate motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds to transport personnel, material or equipment.
• Able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds without assistance

Career-Seasonal: These are appointments that are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. When operational needs and/or funds are not available, the employee will be placed in non-pay status. Placement in non-pay status will not be on a sporadic, occasional, or unplanned basis.

Selectees are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment.

You will work approximately 25 pay periods, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.

Non-pay status is anticipated to be between Nov 8th and Nov 21st OR Dec 6th and Dec 19th.

Physical Demands: Moderately heavy physical effort is required when: using ladder and scaffolds to clean walls, ceilings, windows, ceiling fixtures, etc.; operating powered equipment; removing cans of or other containers of trash; and occasionally lifts objects weighing over 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas, which normally have adequate, heat, light, and ventilation. Is exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc. Care is required to avoid serious injuries when working on ladders and scaffolds and when using heavy powered equipment. Occasionally works outdoors in possible inclement weather conditions and/or extreme temperatures.
