    This is repetitive manual work requiring efficient performance of simple building cleaning and maintenance duties. Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under close supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes by its lack of supervisory duties and from lower classes by its emphasis on cleaning.

    NATURE OF WORK

    This is repetitive manual work requiring efficient performance of simple building cleaning and maintenance duties.

    CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS

    Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under close supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes by its lack of supervisory duties and from lower classes by its emphasis on cleaning.

    EXAMPLES OF WORK

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Sweeps and mops floors. Cleans and vacuums carpets and floors and waxes and buffs vinyl tile floors.

    Washes windows and polishes furniture. Dusts woodwork, furniture, and other articles.

    Collects paper, rubbish, and trash and performs varied grounds tasks.

    Makes minor repairs to buildings, building equipment, and furniture.

    Attends work on continuous and regular basis.

    NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    May frequently chauffeur other employees, depending upon assignment and work location.

    Performs other related duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Ability to read and write English, and six months experience in custodial maintenance, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

    Valid Florida Driver's License required.

    NOTES

    Work requires physical strength and agility.

    Normal color vision as required by work.

    Shift work required.

    SELECTION FACTORS

    Working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.

    Skill in operating vacuum cleaners, floor washers, and buffers.

    Ability to work effectively with coworkers and the general public.
