    Primary Purpose: The Custodial Supervisor implements is responsible for providing technical and administrative coordination, support, management and supervision of the District's custodial operations that provides all students with a clean and safe environment that aligns with academic excellence. Implements department related policies and guidelines associated with assigned area and assists the Director of Business Operations in ensuring that Operational Support Services provides a supportive environment for the achievement of the instructional goals and objectives of the district. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School Graduate or GED (Required) Successful completion of a Custodial/Housekeeping Certification Program (preferred) Must have valid driver's license, good driving record and available transportation during entire workday to travel to sites in the Humble ISD area Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws, regulations, policies and best practices in areas of custodial management for children Knowledge in the latest cleaning and maintenance programs for school facilities Knowledge in efficient cleaning programs such as team cleaning Knowledge of general industry safety measures Skill in managing multiple campus facilities to include conducting on-site inspections districtwide Skill in providing educational and training assistance for Head Custodians and other campus employees Skill in comprehending and evaluating facts and problems associated with custodial area service situations; exercising sound judgment; and taking decisive and timely action in accordance with standard operating procedures Skill in conducting investigations and preparing written documentation in response to inquiries and complaints from groups such as parents, district officials and administrators, union representatives, and the general public Skill in reading and interpreting cleaning and chemical specifications and operational criteria Skill in managing staff, team building, operations, projects, and budgets on a large scale Skill in gathering/organizing/analyzing/interpreting information and formulating conclusions and developing recommendations and solutions Skill in presenting training to adult learners Skill in project planning management and implementation of programs on a large scale Skill in communicating effectively with diverse groups, both verbally and written, utilizing professionalism, poise, tact and diplomacy Skill in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Google related products, and other system software such as employee timekeeping and absent management platforms Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information Reports to: Director of Business Operations School/Department: Operational Support Services Pay Grade: Administrative Management/AM2 Work Days: 226 Wage/hour status: Exempt Created/revised: September 2026 HUMBLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description Custodial Supervisor Page 2 of 4

    Ability to comprehend complex systems and technical information and explain effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders Ability to interpret policy, procedures, budget, data, and technical information Ability to manage assigned personnel and multiple tasks simultaneously and independently to meet deadlines Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of District and external personnel, outside organizations, elected officials, and the general public Experience: Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in general housekeeping and/or commercial/business/facility custodial cleaning services in a large operational setting Minimum 3 years working experience as a custodian Background in training and being able to assist in the development and conduct of training classes/sessions Major Responsibilities and Duties: Custodial Operations:

    1. Assist in development of standards and procedures for custodial operations/applications.

    2. Act as a technical resource to campus administrators & custodians on a daily basis of assigned operational area

    3. Schedule, coordinate and conduct management assistance visits with campus administrators/custodial managers to ensure District policies and procedures are followed and provide feedback to Director for possible corrective guidance/direction.

    4. Establish quality of work and service through supervision, training, and educational programs.

    5. Coordinate all department functions in a manner that service is not interrupted.

    6. Insure that all custodians have been trained and provided ongoing training.

    7. Insure that all Head Custodians participate in ongoing training that emphasizes safety, quality, building team spirit, how to deal with difficult people, organization, follow up, giving recognition to their employees, monitoring and ordering supplies, knowledge of the employee handbook, energy conservation, etc.

    8. Conduct new employee orientation.

    9. Follow up with new employees to be sure they are confident in what they do and are receiving the support they need to be successful.

    10. Interviewing and recommend for hiring new custodians.

    11. Compose letters of documentation on employee work performance.

    12. Maintain close control of supply distribution and to monitor usage.

    13. Handle all requests with a sense of urgency.

    14. Coordinate all project work during holidays, in service days, spring break, and summer months.

    15. Maintain shadow files on all custodial employees.

    16. Follow up on all absenteeism and tardiness issues with employees and document where necessary.

    17. Provide all staff members with thorough safety orientation, to include team meetings, job skill training, workshops, proper lifting techniques with emphasis on cafeteria tables, fire extinguishers, user of electrical equipment, and the right to know program.

    18. Work with Environmental Compliance Manager to keep SDS up to date.

    19. Demonstrate proficiency in using the UKG (formerly Kronos) timekeeping system and to edit/audit all employee records to be sure all overtime, days off etc. are in line with district policies. Safety

    21. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

    22. Ensures that established safety procedures are followed including lifting and climbing. Make sure that tools and equipment are operated and chemicals handled according to established safety.

    23. May assist with investigating custodial accidents and student safety violations.

    24. May conduct training to promote a safe work environment to include students.

    25. Help organize and conduct training programs to promote a safe work environment.

    26. Ensure that custodial equipment is in excellent operating condition.

    27. Perform disaster duty situations as needed (hurricanes, freezing weather, blizzards, etc.) School/Organizational Climate

    28. Promote a positive image that supports the vision and mission of the District.

    29. Maintain a positive and effective relationship, good judgment, and decision making with coworkers, supervisors, other district personnel, outside agencies and organizations, parents, and the community.

    30. Instill a positive service minded attitude and a feeling of a job well done by demonstrating personal enthusiasm and team spirit.

    31. Dress business casual. District uniform may be required to be worn. Policy Reports and Law

    32. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local standards for safety and related regulations.

    33. Comply with all applicable federal and state laws, Board of Education rules and local board policy and regulations.

    34. Ensure that all purchasing and procurement policies are adhered to.

    35. Ensure that all employee handbook policies are followed.

    36. Compiles, maintains, files, and presents all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required. Budget, Purchasing, and Inventory

    37. Operate within the department's yearly budget.

    38. Identify and communicate budget and facility needs in a timely manner to the Director of Operations Businesss.

    39. Make recommendations for any adjustments to future budgets and compile increases to budgets and cost estimates based on documented needs.

    40. Evaluates and recommends custodial supplies and equipment to be used.

    41. Observes standardized ordering procedures for all custodial items at campus.

    42. Prepares, processes, and maintains all documents required to verify campus inventory. Personnel Management

    43. Manages, conducts, and makes sound recommendations regarding supervisory activities in the areas of interviewing, selecting, and recommending personnel placement or dismissal, training, professional development, counseling, and performance evaluations with review and approval by the Director of Business Operations, Associate Superintendent of Operational Support Services, and the Human Resources Department.

    44. Investigates reported concerns and takes appropriate action to resolve issues.

    45. Ensures that personnel practices are coordinated and personnel files are maintained according to district policy.

    46. Oversees work assignments and ensures completion.

    47. Promotes an open, collegial environment among staff and develop a positive staff morale.

    53. Attend training on various software/hardware that is being supported by Humble ISD and maintain a working knowledge of the same.

    54. Responds to after-hours emergencies as needed.

    55. Performs such other duties as may be assigned. Supervisory Responsibility Supervise and evaluate the performance of campus head custodians and support staff assigned to the Custodial Supervisor. Working Conditions The job may require after hours, late night, early morning, weekend, and holiday work sessions to audit facilities for efficient operation. Offices are "open" with multiple employees working in large open rooms containing two or more desks and equipment.
