QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to clearly communicate with all students, parents, staff and community
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILTIES
- Responds to requests from Director of Facilities and/or school administration as needed throughout the day
- Cleans and monitors designated spaces and equipment in the building, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping and waxing floors; rubbish removal
- Cleans and disinfects bathroom sinks, toilets and urinals, mirrors
- Check hand soap, paper towel, & tissue supplies and keep stocked
- Cleans classroom sinks/faucets
- Replaces light bulbs as needed
- Unlocks and locks premises, secures windows and activates/deactivates the alarm systems
- Cleans and maintains custodial equipment daily after each use
- Helps in unloading of freight as needed with delivery to specified areas
- Moves classroom furniture as needed
- Performs basic maintenance as needed
- Performs painting work as needed
- Assists with snow removal/de-icing as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent walking, bending, twisting and lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks
- Continuous use of hand strength to grasp tools and cleaning equipment and climb on ladders
- Push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, and/or cleaning equipment
COMPENSATION AND HOURS
As set by the collective bargaining contract between the Ansonia Board of Education and Teamsters Custodial and Maintenance.
