Position Summary

The Custodial Engineer is responsible for the daily repair, maintenance, and preventative care of campus buildings, equipment, and mechanical systems. This role ensures facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained while supporting overall campus operations. Essential Functions

• Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on:

• Mechanical systems and equipment

• Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems

• Temperature control systems

• Fire alarm and automatic sprinkler systems

• Electrical systems and equipment, including minor electrical repairs

• Plumbing and sewer systems.

• Perform minor electrical repairs such as replacing outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, and troubleshooting basic electrical issues.

• Conduct general building repairs such as replacing outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, and troubleshooting basic electrical issues.

• Repair and maintain grounds equipment such as lawn mowers and snow blowers.

• Assist with groundskeeping duties, including mowing, trimming, and seasonal upkeep.

• Support snow removal operations during winter conditions.

• Monitor inventory and recommend necessary supplies and equipment.

• Respond to campus emergencies as required.

• Work flexible schedules during holidays, weekends, and emergency situations.

• Provide coverage or assistance for custodial and grounds staff when needed.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; Associate's degree in HVAC and/or plumbing preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in HVAC, plumbing, and/or basic electrical maintenance.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regular standing, walking, and lifting (up to 10 pounds frequently)
• Frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling
• Exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards
• Work in varying temperatures and humidity levels
• Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and cleaning chemicals
• Moderate to loud noise levels and occasional vibration
