    Department: Curriculum, Planning & Compliance

    General Statement of Job

    The Curriculum Specialist maintains accurate curriculum records, processes revisions for workforce education and academic programs; reviews curricula for compliance with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC); maintains all curriculum information in college publications, information systems, and various web-based applications including the College's Degree Audit System and college catalog. Assists with maintaining curriculum applications including the online course evaluation system and the syllabi software.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Assists program chairs and/or deans with curriculum revisions to ensure compliance with THECB and SACSCOC guidelines.
    • Processes approved curriculum revisions for all academic and workforce programs.
    • Reviews and updates all curriculum information for the college catalog.
    • Communicates applicable curriculum revisions, such as award title revisions, program code updates and credit/contact hour revisions to the Student Financial Services department
    • Maintains all curriculum related screens in the student information system, including program inventory screens, course inventory screens, course descriptions, prerequisites, and course reporting screens to comply with state requirements.
    • Maintains and updates curriculum records in Degree Works.
    • Updates and maintains the official college degree plans via the Student Educational Planner in Degree Works.
    • Ensures all curriculum revisions are up-to-date through the THECB inventory database.
    • Maintains and updates course and section-level attributes for tuition tables.
    • Participates in and maintains knowledge regarding Texas Success Initiative (TSI) updates and assesses impact on curriculum, including course prerequisites.
    • Creates agendas, packets, and minutes for the College-Wide Curriculum Committee Meeting.
    • Assists with Instructional Program Development, including the collection of local labor market data and review of program proposals.
    • Assists with maintenance and collection of course section outlines through the syllabi software application; assists with the collection and posting of faculty curriculum vitae.
    • Assists with the course evaluation process and provides technical support to students, faculty, and staff using the online course evaluation system.
    • Completes audits and reports to ensure accuracy of program and course data.
    • Conducts departmental training for various department functions, as needed.
    • Collaborates with departmental staff to develop and fulfill the Institutional Effectiveness Plan.
    • Provides assistance with special projects, as needed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree required.
    • At least one (1) year of work experience in a higher education setting, preferred.
