The Curriculum Specialist is a certified teacher who has demonstrated a high level of proficiency in teaching and who possesses a thorough knowledge of instructional strategies, child development, curriculum, classroom management, and adult learning research. This position incorporates both building-level and district-level responsibilities. At the building level, the primary function is collaborating and coaching teachers focused on improving teaching and learning by leveraging research-based instructional strategies across all content areas. This includes coaching classroom teachers in planning, developing, and using differentiated instructional strategies and materials, use of instructional technology, and data-driven instructional practices. At the district level, the Curriculum Specialist will enhance instructional programs through work in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development. Per the collective bargaining agreement, Curriculum Specialists reapply for the role every two years.
