Overview
The position of Curriculum Administrator K-12 MLL & World Language is part of a team that includes two additional Curriculum Administrators in the areas of STEM and Humanities & Fine Arts. Together, they perform a variety of supervisory and administrative roles to oversee successful program implementation and assessment monitoring districtwide. This Curriculum Administrator serves on the District's Curriculum Development Team (CDT) and facilitates communication between building-level administrators and staff to ensure effective curriculum implementation and alignment across K-12 programs.
The Curriculum Administrator reports to The Director of Curriculum, Instruction and K-12 Academy Programming, and collaborates vertically with other Central Office Staff such as the Chief of Schools, building-level administrators, department Heads, instructional coaches, and student services departments in an effort to continuously improve programs of study and strengthen services to students and families, with a particular focus on multilingual learners and world language instruction in alignment with District goals and K-12 programming.
Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Education required, doctorate preferred.. Graduate work in TESOL, bilingual education, curriculum development, instruction, assessment, or a related field preferred.
Connecticut certification required:
092 Intermediate Administration and Supervision
TESOL, bilingual, or world language certification preferred
Two to three years of demonstrated leadership experience, including but not limited to instructional leadership teams, curriculum leadership, coaching, department leadership, or building administration.
Demonstrated commitment to multilingual learner achievement, language acquisition, and culturally responsive instructional practices.
Experience supporting MLL and/or World Language programming, curriculum implementation, and instructional improvement initiatives.
Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting walk-throughs, formal and informal observations, and evaluations for certified staff members.
Minimum of 5 years experience in student data analysis and progress monitoring. Familiarity with DataWise or a similar model preferred.
Experience with budgeting at the department level or higher is preferred. Ability to seek, develop, and win competitive grants. Directly oversees Title 3, Immigrant and Bilingual Grants and other grants as assigned.
Ability to communicate effectively and problem solve collaboratively with leaders of academic priorities.
Commitment to systems-based approaches to organizational change.
