    Curiosity Guide with Learning and Engagement Job Description

     

    Wage: $13/hour

    Shift: Part time. Morning and afternoon shifts. Minimum of 15 hours per week. May include Saturdays, holidays, and evening shifts.

    Come join our amazing Education and Learning & Engagement team as a Curiosity Guide! In this role, you’ll engage children, families, students, teachers, and community members through hands-on learning, educational programs, STEM experiences, museum education, science activities, and interactive discovery.

    If you enjoy teaching, facilitating, leading groups, working with children, and creating memorable educational experiences, this could be the role for you. Curiosity Guides help learners of all ages discover new ideas, ask questions, explore the world around them, and experience the joy of learning.

    Responsibilities-

    • Prepare for and lead educational programs, classes, demonstrations, activities, and interactive learning experiences in a variety of settings.
    • Facilitate programs for children, families, school groups, teachers, and community members at Thanksgiving Point, in schools, and through community outreach.
    • Welcome and engage program participants with confidence, compassion, and curiosity, creating opportunities for meaningful discovery and learning.
    • Use hands-on activities, storytelling, questioning, demonstrations, and creative teaching techniques to make learning engaging and accessible.
    • Create classrooms and learning spaces that are fun, inclusive, safe, organized, and welcoming for learners of all ages and abilities.
    • Adapt activities and communication styles to meet the needs of different learners and groups.
    • Cultivate positive experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, exploration, and a love of learning.
    • Collaborate with Learning & Engagement team members to develop and improve facilitated and self-guided educational experiences both on and off property.
    • Evaluate participant experiences and contribute ideas for improving educational programs and guest experiences.
    • Represent Thanksgiving Point’s mission, values, and policies with confidence, compassion, and curiosity.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor.

     

    Requirements-

    • Experience teaching, facilitating, presenting, leading groups, or working with learners in formal or informal educational settings.
    • Experience working with children, youth, families, students, or community groups is preferred.
    • Interest or experience in education, science, STEM, museums, environmental education, recreation, camps, youth programs, or community engagement is a plus.
    • Ability to confidently lead groups and communicate clearly with learners of different ages and abilities.
    • Ability to create an engaging, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
    • Comfortable working independently while also being part of a highly collaborative team.
    • Patience, professionalism, and a positive attitude in a busy, active, and sometimes noisy environment.
    • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback with positivity and professionalism.
    • Comfortable adapting to different audiences, learning environments, and program needs.
    • Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors, around animals, insects, and loud noises.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, bend, manipulate small objects, and lift up to 30 pounds.
    • Ability to provide verbal instructions in English.
    • Valid Utah driver's license preferred; must pass an MVR.
    • Ability to travel for several days at a time preferred.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must pass a background check.
