Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree or higher in Chicano Studies, Hispanic Studies, Latin American Studies, Border Studies, Latino Studies, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, Art Education, Art History, Education, History, Business or Public Administration, or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in a museum, nonprofit arts or cultural organization, school, or educational institution.

Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class "C" Drivers License or equivalent from another state.

General Purpose

Under general supervision, plan, develop, promote, organize, and evaluate a range of community, art, and cultural initiatives, programs, and events for the Mexican-American Cultural Center (MACC).

Typical Duties

Develop, coordinate, and implement arts and cultural programs, special projects, and events. Involves: Conduct field research to assist in establishing goals and activities. Develop cultural programs and implement programs through liaison with community groups, educational organizations, and agencies. Develop and coordinate satellite programs, events, and exhibitions. Provide staff support to commissions, committees, and other organizations. Build and strengthen community partnerships, brand recognition, and support for programs and activities of the MACC. Coordinate a variety of cultural programs and events to increase community involvement and interest. Work with officials, volunteers, and others to develop, promote, and implement cultural exhibits, activities, and programs.

Develop, coordinate, and implement marketing initiatives to promote MACC programs and events. Involves: Develop and assist in the conceptual design of promotional material, themes, and campaigns. Coordinate public relations activities. Prepare newsletters, press releases, speeches, and social media publications to promote cultural programs, activities, and events. Attend city and community events to provide the public with information on programs and events. Attend meetings, conferences, and events to represent the MACC. Make presentations and conduct community outreach. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned. Involves: Assist with arrangements and administrative details for special projects. Set up or arrange for set up of the event depending on the size and scope of the event. Purchase all necessary supplies for events and programs. Maintain activity records and prepare event reports. Monitor expenditures for programs, projects, and events.

Supervise assigned staff. Involves: Schedule, assign, instruct, guide, and check work. Appraise employee performance. Provide for training and development. Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony. Interview applicants. Recommend hiring, discipline, merit pay, or other employee status changes.
