    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Saline High School and the South & West Washtenaw Consortium are seeking a skilled and industry-connected Career & Technical Education (CTE) Graphics Communications Technician to assist the teacher in providing students with hands-on, industry-relevant experiences in the state-approved CTE Graphics Communications program. Working under the direction of the lead teacher, this position will provide technical, operational, and instructional support in the classroom and lab areas. The successful candidate will assist students with the use of graphic design software, production equipment, materials, and industry processes while helping maintain a safe, organized, and professional learning environment.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Education/Certification

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • At least 4,000 hours of recent, relevant work experience (within the last 10 years) in the Graphics and Printing Technology and Communications industry such as: graphic design, graphic communications, printing, digital media, commercial art, visual communications, or a related field.

    Preferred Experience

    • Demonstrated experience with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Cloud) and/or production equipment.
    • Ability to work effectively with high school students.
    • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with the lead teacher.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and technical skills.

    RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

    • Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom and laboratory activities.
    • Provide individual and small-group assistance to students as directed by the lead teacher.
    • Support students in completing hands-on graphic communications, production, and client-based projects.
    • Reinforce technical skills, workplace expectations, safety procedures, and employability skills.
    • Assist students and the teacher with the operation and basic troubleshooting of graphic communications equipment and technology, including computers, printers, scanners, cameras, cutting equipment, and other program equipment.
    • Assist with digital printing, large-format printing, vinyl cutting, signage, finishing, and other production activities as applicable to the program.
    • Assist students with file preparation, digital imaging, formatting, layout, and production processes.

    • Effectively manage and maintain resources, technology, equipment, and materials to support responsible stewardship of district resources.

    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS

    Work in standard office and school building environments that require mobility, visual and auditory acuity, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, adaptability, technology proficiency, physical stamina, and environmental awareness.

    • Working in a computer lab, studio, classroom, or production environment.
    • Operating and demonstrating the use of production equipment.
    • Moving supplies, materials, and equipment.
    • Repeated use of computers and other technology.
    • Occasional work outside the regular classroom environment for field productions, school events, competitions, or industry experiences.
