SCHEDULE: Full time, 1.0 FTE SALARY: Per the NEA Agreement

JOB DESCRIPTION The CTE Marketing and Business Teacher delivers engaging, standards-based instruction designed to prepare students for higher education and careers in business administration, accounting, marketing, finance, and entrepreneurship.

QUALIFICATIONS Required Education/Certification

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a CTE (Marketing, Sales, and Services) and/or CTE (Business Administration Management and Operations) and/or GX, GA, GQ, GH, and/or GM endorsement Preferred
• Successful high school teaching experience in subject area
• Additional certification in secondary content area
• Ability to work with and reach reluctant learners
• Willingness to take on extra responsibilities & duties outside of the school day offered in Schedule B
• Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff
• Demonstrates innovative usage of technology and collaborative learning strategies to engage students

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Provide an educational program that meets the educational needs of each student in the teacher's area of responsibility
• Provide instruction consistent with District and school expectations which meets the educational needs of all students assigned to the teacher
• Communicate with students, parents, administrators, and other staff members in a manner which is consistent with District and school expectations
• Maintain student records, organize resources, and foster a learning environment consistent with District and school expectations, while maximizing student learning
• Manage time, equipment, and materials efficiently and maintain a physical environment that is well- organized, safe, and student focused
• Plan, prepare, and implement instruction and assessment used to measure student growth
• Honor and carry out the District initiatives and goals
• Participate in professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning
• Be a contributing member to a Professional Learning Community (PLC)
• Regularly communicate student progress and development with parents and staff
• Craft creative and innovative lesson plans that contribute to a highly engaged learning community
• Create a caring and nurturing learning atmosphere that allows for emotional and social growth
• Collaborate with PLC and department to teach the agreed upon curriculum
• Provide high quality instruction, feedback, and support all learners with valid assessments to measure growth
• Duties as otherwise assigned by building administrator

Overview of Our Process: We take great pride in our thorough hiring process in the Novi Community School District (NCSD). For all candidates applying for a position within the NEA, NASA, or for an office staff position within NESPA, we follow a comprehensive procedure to ensure we select the best candidates. For external candidates, the process begins with an online screener, which will be sent to applicants via email. It is crucial for candidates to regularly check their email for invitations to progress to the next step. All internal candidates will bypass this screener and be moved on to the next phase of the process.

Upon successful completion of the screener and first phase of the process, qualified internal and/or external candidates for NEA and NASA positions will receive an email invitation for a one-way video interview. This stage is a crucial opportunity for candidates to showcase their qualifications. After reviewing the one-way video submissions, selected candidates will be contacted by phone for an in-person interview.

Candidates will have a two-business-day window to complete both the online screener and the video interview, so candidates should be prepared to dedicate some time during these parts of the process. It is critical that these deadlines are met, as candidates will be excluded from moving forward if they do not complete these components on time. Screeners and one-way video interviews are anticipated to be sent out soon after the posting closes. We plan to hold interviews in early to mid-November and extend an offer by late November. The official start date will be determined collaboratively by the selected candidate and the Assistant Superintendent of Talent Management and Development.
