Job Goal: The Digital Arts Instructor will develop and teach engaging courses in photography, videography, website design, podcast production, and social media content creation. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop technical skills, creative expression, digital storytelling abilities, and professional media practices with creative technology while remaining student-focused and integrating CTE curriculum in the classroom. This position will combine hands-on instruction with project-based learning, while helping students build professional portfolios and real-world digital media experiences.
Performance Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum
Teach courses in Digital Photography, Videography and Video Editing, Website Design & Development, Podcast Production & Audio Editing, and Social Media Content Creation & Management.
Develop lesson plans, projects, and assessments aligned with CTE Program goals.
Provide instruction on industry-standard software, equipment, and production techniques.
Foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and digital communication skills.
Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning styles and skill levels.
Photography and Videography
Teach camera operation, composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.
Instruct students in photo and video editing techniques.
Supervise studio and field production projects.
Maintain photography and video equipment.
Website Design
Teach website planning, design principles, user experience, and basic web development.
Guide students in creating and maintaining professional websites and digital portfolios.
Introduce current web technologies and best practices.
Podcast Production
Teach podcast planning, scripting, recording, editing, and publishing.
Train students in audio production techniques and equipment usage.
Oversee student-created podcast projects from concept to distribution.
Social Media & Digital Marketing
Teach social media content strategy, branding, audience engagement, and analytics.
Guide students with creating content for multiple platforms.
Promote responsible and ethical digital citizenship practices.
Assist with school, program, or organizational social media initiatives when appropriate.
Student Support & Program Development
Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Encourage participation in competitions, exhibitions, showcases, and portfolio development.
Stay current with emerging trends in digital media and educational technology.
Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and improvements.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Salary: Wage and benefits to be in accordance with the Master Agreement for Certified Staff. This position is (Part - Time (.50 FTE), 185 days, 3.5 hours per day.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Master Agreement for Certified Staff.
