Job Title: CT Technologist
Location: Brockton, MA
Duration: 03 months Contract
Schedule: Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat 12:30p-11pm. 4 10 hour shifts
Hourly rate: $73/hour on W2 (Negotiable)
Job Summary- Performs patient care and technical duties involved in producing CT images of designated anatomical areas according to established procedures.
- Works under the supervision of the AVP of Imaging Services and CT Supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities- Perform CT examinations for patients ranging from newborn to geriatric using appropriate adult and pediatric protocols.
- Communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with patients, families, and associates.
- Review imaging requisitions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies with appropriate personnel.
- Properly identify, prepare, and educate patients before examinations.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Follow radiation safety and shielding practices, including required documentation for patients of childbearing age.
- Recommend alternative imaging examinations when appropriate to reduce or eliminate radiation exposure.
- Apply ALARA principles to protect patients, staff, and associates from unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Apply Image Wisely and Image Gently principles to minimize radiation dose.
- Obtain quality diagnostic images following orientation and training on CT scanners.
- Use appropriate aseptic technique, universal protocol, and standard precautions.
- Prepare and administer oral and IV contrast media according to established protocols.
- Follow IV contrast policies, including screening, hydration, extravasation management, and premedication.
- Train new personnel on CT scanner operation and related equipment.
- Monitor CT equipment and coordinate repairs with repair services following supervisor approval.
- Follow PACS workflows to ensure exam accuracy and completeness.
- Demonstrate competency with RIS applications, including exam tracking and status updates.
- Coordinate workflow to maximize productivity using LEAN methodology.
- Maintain department inventory and restock supplies using the Kanban system.
- Participate in daily huddles, problem-solving activities, and department meetings.
- Keep patients and families informed of estimated wait times and proactively address patient-care needs.
- Assist patients with mobility, dressing, and other personal care needs.
- Prioritize and adjust workload based on emergencies, STAT orders, and patient volume.
- Perform IV venipuncture after completing required training.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
