Position Summary:
The School District of Whitefish Bay is seeking a dedicated Crossing Guard to ensure the safe passage of students, staff, and community members to and from school. This role is essential to our community's commitment to safety, requiring a proactive individual to manage traffic and pedestrian flow at designated intersections.
Schedule:
Morning, midday, and afternoon shifts (approx. 7:30-8:30, 10:45-12:15, 2:45-3:45).
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Coordination: Assist students and pedestrians to ensure safe crossing.
- Hazard Mitigation: Intervene in potentially dangerous situations to ensure safety.
- Communication: Enforce school policy and safety procedures with pedestrians.
- Reporting: Communicate safety incidents or behavioral concerns to school administration.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and utilize provided safety gear (signs, vests).
Requirements:
- Ability to work all three designated, daily shifts.
- Strong attention to detail and safety.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and utilizing good time management skills.
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must possess stamina to stand for long periods of time, mobility to escort children across streets; ability to work out of doors in all weather conditions and with exposure to traffic; vision to read printed materials and license plates, and hearing and speech to communicate in person.
