** LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY ** Job Summary:We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to support critical infrastructure projects across data centers and manufacturing plant computer rooms. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles who is looking to grow their experience in mission-critical environments.
The engineer will work closely with internal teams, vendors, and technical stakeholders to support electrical infrastructure projects involving UPS systems, power distribution, electrical cabling, and facility power systems. While this is not a hands-on installation role, the successful candidate must be comfortable reviewing technical designs, understanding electrical diagrams and one-line diagrams, participating in technical discussions, and helping drive projects forward.
This position combines technical engineering fundamentals with project coordination responsibilities, making it a strong opportunity for an engineer who enjoys both technical problem solving and working with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Review and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams to understand system design, power flow, and infrastructure requirements.
- Support data center and facility infrastructure projects involving electrical power systems, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, and related infrastructure.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to review technical proposals, request information, and support equipment selection.
- Participate in discussions regarding electrical capacity, cabling requirements, power distribution, voltage requirements, and infrastructure design considerations.
- Assist with development and management of RFQs, purchase orders (POs), statements of work (SOWs), and project documentation.
- Help evaluate vendor recommendations and communicate technical requirements effectively.
- Track project deliverables, schedules, risks, and action items to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Coordinate with engineering, facilities, operations, and vendor teams throughout project execution.
- Prepare project updates, status reports, meeting notes, and supporting documentation.
- Support issue resolution by coordinating with technical stakeholders and vendors.
- Utilize project management tools such as Jira to track work and project progress.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- 2+ years of engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and principles.
- Ability to read, review, and interpret:
- Electrical diagrams
- Electrical schematics
- One-line diagrams
- Understanding of electrical power systems concepts, including:
- Voltage
- Electrical distribution
- Electrical cabling
- Connectors and power infrastructure
- Familiarity with UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems and their role in critical infrastructure environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and documentation skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with vendors, suppliers, contractors, and technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting data center, manufacturing, utility, or mission-critical facility environments.
- Exposure to critical power infrastructure, including:
- UPS systems
- Power distribution equipment
- Switchgear
- Generators
- PDUs (Power Distribution Units)
- Experience issuing or supporting:
- RFQs
- Purchase Orders
- Statements of Work (SOWs)
- Experience tracking projects, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Familiarity with Jira or similar project tracking tools.
- Experience working directly with equipment vendors, engineering consultants, or contractors.
Ideal Candidate ProfileThis is
not an installation role and not a data center operations role. We are looking for someone with an engineering foundation who can understand electrical infrastructure, communicate effectively with vendors, and help coordinate projects from conception through execution.
The ideal candidate can:
- Understand and interpret electrical drawings and one-line diagrams.
- Participate in technical discussions involving power distribution, voltage requirements, electrical cabling, and UPS systems.
- Communicate confidently with vendors and suppliers regarding technical requirements and project needs.
- Manage documentation, project tracking, RFQs, POs, and SOWs.
- Stay organized, keep projects moving forward, and provide clear communication to stakeholders.
- Learn quickly and grow into greater technical responsibility over time.
This role would be a great fit for an early-career Electrical or Mechanical Engineer who has a solid technical foundation and is interested in supporting critical infrastructure and data center projects while developing both engineering and project management skills.
