Position OverviewWheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced
Critical Care, ICU RN Manager for a healthcare leadership opportunity in Framingham, MA. This position provides leadership and operational oversight for Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing services and critical care operations. The ICU RN Manager partners closely with executive nursing leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care while supporting staff development, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and resource management.
This role is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practices within the ICU while maintaining 24/7 accountability for departmental operations. The Critical Care, ICU RN Manager serves as a key leader in fostering clinical excellence, patient safety, staff engagement, and continuous quality improvement in a fast-paced critical care environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership & Critical Care Operations
Provide leadership and oversight for ICU nursing operations and patient care delivery.
Ensure the provision of high-quality, evidence-based critical care nursing services.
Support the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of nursing care for critically ill patients.
Promote patient safety initiatives and ensure adherence to critical care standards of practice.
Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Monitor patient care quality metrics and implement improvement initiatives when necessary.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, nursing standards, accreditation requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Support patient throughput, capacity management, and efficient utilization of ICU resources.
Leadership & Staff Development
Lead, mentor, coach, and develop ICU nursing staff and clinical team members.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional growth, and patient-centered care.
Support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, orientation, and retention of nursing personnel.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
Ensure staff competency, certifications, continuing education, and compliance with required training programs.
Promote employee engagement and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
Serve as a professional role model and advocate for nursing excellence.
Operational & Resource Management
Maintain 24/7 accountability for ICU departmental operations.
Monitor staffing levels, patient acuity, and resource utilization to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and productivity management.
Support departmental budgeting and cost-management initiatives.
Ensure effective communication and coordination across departments to optimize patient flow and operational performance.
Participate in strategic planning and implementation of organizational goals and initiatives.
Monitor operational metrics and develop action plans to address performance opportunities.
Quality, Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Support regulatory readiness efforts and accreditation compliance.
Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
Review incidents, identify trends, and implement corrective action plans when appropriate.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational standards governing nursing practice and patient care.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and clinical excellence.
Required Qualifications
Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
Academic degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Minimum of two (2) years of progressive leadership experience within a hospital environment, including experience as a Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, ICU Lead Nurse, or related leadership position.
Previous experience working in a Critical Care or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) environment.
Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
Demonstrated operational management experience within an acute care hospital setting.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced critical care environment.
Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
Additional leadership experience within an ICU, Critical Care, or Acute Care setting.
Experience supporting quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
National nursing certification related to critical care or leadership preferred (CCRN, NE-BC, or similar).
