    Job Description:

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

    • Receives andtriagescalls sent to Behavioral Health Hub fromMetroSafecall takers.

    • Provides crisis and suicide intervention over the telephone to callers needing emergency/crisisassistance,identifiesand suggestsappropriate organizationsand service providers to meet callers' needs using provided database, connects caller with mobile crisis response whenappropriate, and monitors status of callers' situations through case follow-up. 

    • Documents andmaintainsaccurate, thorough records of all telephone interventions transacted during the work shift. 

    • Assessesthe situation,engage, anddevelop rapport, and de-escalate.

    • De-escalatespersonin crisis anddeterminewhat you can do to help them today. 

    • Develops a crisis planutilizingthe strengths of the individual and available community resources to resolve the immediate crisis.

    • Facilitates follow-up interventions with the individual.

    • Determines appropriatelevelof care during the crisis and arrange referrals.

    • Works collaboratively with law enforcement, families, other county departments, schools, acute care services providers, and other community resources to coordinateappropriate crisisresolution andreferral. 

    • Communicates pertinent information ona timelybasis to persons in crisis,MetroSafecall takers and dispatch, LMPD, SCS, and any otherappropriate partieswhile also preserving the dignity and privacy of the person in crisis as much as possible. 

    • Performs other duties as assigned, including responding to emergency coverage needs.

    • Facilitates a culture of openness and collaboration to ensure all team members are providingaccurate, quality, crisisassistance, includingaccuratedocumentation.

    • Attends andparticipatesin staff and team meetings.

    • Utilizes person centered and trauma informed approach to each interaction.

    EDUCATION

    • Associates degree required

    • Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Human Services, or a related field of study (preferred) 

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of sixmonths’experience in social services.

    • May involve modestly unpleasant situations such as offensive language from callers.
