Primary Purpose of Job and Contribution to Organization:This position is responsible for independent work, assisting in the coordination of administrative tasks, and/or assignments within the Credit Underwriting Department for underwriting multifamily housing developments (new construction, acquisition/rehabilitation, renovation, redevelopment and preservation) assigned to Seltzer Management Group.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:- Underwriting proposed transactions, adhering to the applicable statutes that govern the programs (e.g. Housing Credit Program, State Apartment Incentive Loan, Multifamily Mortgage Revenue Bond Program, and others as assigned) from which the proposed transaction is seeking funding
- Determining eligibility and feasibility of the proposed transaction for assistance
- Calculating loan or credit amount to be awarded
- Determining compliance with regulations governing assistance and establishing terms and conditions of the funding award
- Engaging and analyzing third-party reports (e.g. Market Study, Appraisal, Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, Capital Needs Assessment, Plan and Cost Analysis, Site Visit, etc.)
- Perform a thorough review and analysis of the experience and financial capacity of the borrower
- Review applications and work with the borrower to collect all required documents
- Participating in closing loans underwritten by Seltzer Management Group
- Provide client(s) with requested documentation to assist with audit/quality assurance functions
- Perform other related work as required
Professional Requirements:- Strong analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel a plus
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment
Required Education and Experience:- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or financial institution experience.
- 3-5 years commercial real estate analysis, lending (preferably loan underwriting) or banking experience
- A background in the financial services industry, with experience performing financial modeling and analysis
