Highlights

Primary Function : Assist with the production of all in-house design work including publications, signage, advertising, and on-grounds graphics; Assist with developing and maintaining consistent visual identities to enhance marketing initiatives; Assist with project work flow, including deliverable dates and vendor management and billing; Collaborate with Zoo departments to implement visual solutions for needs relating to events, signs, and marketing requests; Assist with email marketing design; Collaborate with Digital Media Coordinator; Organize and maintain photo archives and digital graphics library; Maintain industry knowledge on graphic trends and design software; Perform other duties as assigned; and, Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Zoo. Communication (Internal and External) : Assist with coordination of various Zoo vendors including, printers, outside designers, manufacturers, retailers, photographers and software/hardware companies; Maintain collaborative and service-oriented relationships with key internal department managers to fulfill graphics requests; Coordinate and distribute finished pieces, images, logos, photographs to outside advertisers, agencies or Zoo managers.

Description

General Summary: The Creative Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the production of graphic design projects for the Zoo's advertising, marketing, and signage. Outputs include brochures, banners, temporary and permanent signage, digital, web, and email marketing. This position reports to the Director of Creative Services. Additionally, the Creative Services Coordinator will support the Zoo's mission to save wildlife and protect wild places and contribute to its environmental, social, governance sustainability, conservation, education and DEAI (Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion) goals.


Primary Function:

  • Assist with the production of all in-house design work including publications, signage, advertising, and on-grounds graphics;
  • Assist with developing and maintaining consistent visual identities to enhance marketing initiatives;
  • Assist with project work flow, including deliverable dates and vendor management and billing;
  • Collaborate with Zoo departments to implement visual solutions for needs relating to events, signs, and marketing requests;
  • Assist with email marketing design;
  • Collaborate with Digital Media Coordinator;
  • Organize and maintain photo archives and digital graphics library;
  • Maintain industry knowledge on graphic trends and design software;
  • Perform other duties as assigned; and,
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Zoo.

Communication (Internal and External):

  • Assist with coordination of various Zoo vendors including, printers, outside designers, manufacturers, retailers, photographers and software/hardware companies;
  • Maintain collaborative and service-oriented relationships with key internal department managers to fulfill graphics requests;
  • Coordinate and distribute finished pieces, images, logos, photographs to outside advertisers, agencies or Zoo managers.

Management of Resources (Financial, Human Resources, Facilities):

  • Prioritize incoming requests, create and communicate project timelines.
  • Work closely with Director of Creative Services to manage department resources;
  • Develop and manage relationships with outside vendors;
  • Organize, update, and maintain photo archives and digital graphics library; and,
  • Assist the Zoo's advertising agency of record to request or fulfill design related agency projects.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, advertising, and/ or related fields preferred.

Experience/Training:

  • Minimum 6 months of related professional experience;
  • Two to three years working on graphic design projects preferred;
  • Marketing and advertising work experience preferred;
  • Proficient knowledge of programs including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator;
  • Knowledge of Adobe After Effects, HTML5 or CSS preferred, but not required;
  • Mac Pro system proficiency; and,
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Traits Desirable:

  • Ability to work with individuals from a wide variety of ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds;
  • Excellent knowledge of the creative and printing processes;
  • Knowledge of sign production process and sign design programs;
  • Ability to communicate effectively;
  • Strong organizational skills; and,
  • Excellent English written skills.

Equipment:

  • Must be able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including computer, telephone, scanner, copier, two-way radio, golf cart, vehicles, etc.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand and remain active for an eight-hour shift;
  • Must be able to walk large areas of the Zoo as needed;
  • Must be able to work in an outdoor weather environment in all seasons and weather, including heat/humidity, cold temperatures, and/or wet conditions;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, holidays, and special events; and,
  • Must be able to exert up to 35 pounds of force to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move objects.
